Why was my website stopped? (Resource Overuse)
If you are using a Free Hosting Package, your website is subject to automated resource monitoring. This ensures fair performance for all users sharing the server.
Your website may be temporarily disabled (stopped) if it exceeds the limits for either Average File Size (often indicating file storage usage) or CPU Usage.
Limit 1: Bandwidth & File Storage (Average File Size)
While we do not strictly limit the size of individual uploads, we calculate the average size of all files downloaded from your website (including HTML, images, media, etc.) every few hours.
- The Limit: The average file size must not exceed 150 KB per request.
- The Reason: Consistently high average file sizes usually indicate that the account is being used primarily for file storage or media hosting rather than as a standard website.
Limit 2: CPU Usage
We also monitor the computational load your website places on the server.
- The Limit: If your website's average CPU usage per request exceeds the allowed threshold (indicating inefficient code or heavy processing), it will be flagged.
What happens when I hit a limit?
- Automatic Stop: Your website will be stopped automatically for 12 hours.
- Manual Restart: You can log in to the control panel and restart your website manually immediately.
- Strike Limit: You are allowed to manually restart your site only 5 times after such violations. If you continue to exceed limits without fixing the underlying issue, manual restarts may be disabled.
How to fix this
- Optimize Content: Compress images and media to lower your average transfer size.
- Optimize Code: Review your application code for inefficient loops or database queries that spike CPU usage.
- Upgrade: Switch to any of our Paid Hosting Packages. Paid plans are not subject to these specific maintenance checks and offer significantly higher resource allowances.
