Create an empty MS SQL database

Instantiated MS SQL databases are not supported! But they still can be used if properly attached.

Before you'll be able to create a database on our server you'll need to acquire a web hosting package with MS SQL database support or standalone MS SQL hosting package at our store.

After you acquired desired hosting package, in "User menu" pane navigate to "User -> Managed products -> MS SQL -> Logins".  And create a MS SQL server login.

Than navigate to "User -> Managed products -> MS SQL -> Databases". You'll see a list of available MS SQL plans. Click on "Create" hyperlink.

Enter database name, select Login and MS SQL version and click on "Create empty database» button.

MS SQL database deployment is rather complicated process. With Doka panel we tried to make it as easy as possible. You, however, still need to understand what steps are involved in MS SQL database creation with Doka control panel:

1. Each of your databases will have a unique MS SQL server name, even if they are hosted on the same MS SQL server. This is done for flexibility reasons. It will ease a process of migration (if required) of your MS SQL database. For these reasons for each of your MS SQL database the system will add a single "A record" in our DNS servers, which you'll have to use for MS SQL Server name when connecting to the database. And because of DNS replication delays the MS SQL Server name may not be available for some time.

2. For every MS SQL database, our system also creates a "Backup location". That's a place where you can store database files, database backups and database scripts. You will be able to FTP to the backup location to upload or download required files. You'll also be able to use a built in file manager to access it. Unique FTP address is created for every backup location and it's a subject to DNS replication delay too.

3. Finally, an empty database created on selected MS SQL server.

After that you'll be able to deploy your MS SQL database on our servers.
