Website Domains / Bindings

Navigate to: Main Menu > Websites > Select a website > Click the Domains / Bindings tab.

This section is where you connect your domain names (e.g., www.yourproject.com) to your website. In technical terms, "binding" configures the web server (IIS) to listen for requests coming to a specific name and route them to your application.

1. The Domain List & Health Status

The main grid displays every address currently pointing to your site. It provides real-time diagnostic information to help you troubleshoot connectivity issues:

  • Protocols: Indicates if the domain is accessible via HTTP (unsecured) or HTTPS (secured/encrypted).
  • Status Icons (The Diagnostics Tool):
    • Green Checkmark: The domain is correctly configured. The world sees your site correctly.
    • Red Exclamation Mark (!): There is a DNS configuration error.
Tip: Hover your mouse cursor over the red icon. A popup will appear showing exactly what is wrong (e.g., "Domain points to IP 1.2.3.4 but should point to 5.6.7.8"). This is invaluable for troubleshooting propagation issues.

2. Adding a New Domain

To link a custom domain you purchased from a registrar (like GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Google Domains):

  1. Click BIND NEW DOMAIN NAME.
  2. Enter the full domain name (e.g., example.com or blog.example.com).
  3. Click BIND.

Subdomains & Automation:
If you have already configured your parent domain (e.g., example.com) to use our Name Servers, adding subdomains is instant. You can simply bind shop.example.com here, and the system will automatically create the necessary DNS records.
Note: If you manage your DNS externally, you must manually create a new record for every subdomain you bind.

3. DNS Configuration

Simply binding the domain in our panel is only half the process. You must also tell the rest of the internet to send traffic to us. After binding a domain, click the Context Menu (three lines) next to it and select DNS configuration instructions.

You must log in to your domain registrar and update your settings using ONE of the following methods:

  • Method A: Name Servers (Recommended)
Replace your registrar's Name Servers with ours (e.g., ns1.somee.com, ns.somee.com). This allows us to automatically manage all future DNS records and subdomains for you.
  • Method B: Manual Records (A or CNAME)
If you prefer to keep your DNS elsewhere, you must create records manually.
    • Using A Records: Create an 'A' record pointing to the IP Address shown in the instructions.
    • Using CNAME Records: Create a 'CNAME' record pointing to the Host Domain (our internal server hostname) shown in the instructions.

Important: In both manual cases, you must create a record for the root domain (e.g., example.com) AND a separate record for the www subdomain if you want both to work.

4. SSL & HTTPS (Securing Your Site)

To add the security lock icon to your site, click the ADD HTTPS BINDINGS button next to the domain.

  • Select a Certificate: If you already have a certificate installed, simply select it from the dropdown list and click ADD.
  • Don't have a certificate? Use the shortcut buttons at the top of the dialog (ORDER A FREE CERTIFICATE, IMPORT PFX, etc.).
Note: These buttons will redirect you to the SSL Certificates management pages. Once you have created or imported your certificate there, return to this form to apply it.

5. Management Options

Click the Menu icon (three horizontal lines) on the right side of any row to access maintenance tools:

  • Change certificate: Swap an expiring SSL certificate for a new one without downtime.
  • Remove HTTPS binding: Removes the SSL layer while keeping the standard HTTP connection active.
  • Delete: Completely unbinds the domain from this website. The site will no longer load when visitors type that address.
